Application Tips Video
Cleanse:
As a Type 3, you will likely shampoo more frequently than someone with a curlier or unruly texture type. Start out shampooing every 2-3 days. If you find that your oil production is too high, then shampoo more frequently. On days that you are not using the lather shampoo, use the conditioner to co-wash.
Condition:
Your hair is like a sponge, squeeze extra water out then add product to ensure the moisture is absorbed. You will focus the conditioner on the ends towards the roots, but do not leave on your scalp. Your hair does not need as much moisture closer to the scalp, your moisture needs are at the ends of the hair towards mid hair shaft, the oldest hair on your head. Do not rinse all of the conditioner out of hair, you want your hair to feel like “seaweed”. If you can feel the slimy seaweed feel and your hand is white with conditioner, rinse a little more. Your hand should be clear of conditioner when you rinse but should still feel slimy like seaweed, If you rinse out too much conditioner, you may add a tiny bit back to the ends to mid shaft after squeezing out any excess water.
Style:
You will use MopTop Light hold Gel as your styling product. Apply to “wet” hair, just shy of dripping wet! We encourage using the MopTop 4 section method, Do not touch your hair your hair until it is completely dry! Air drying is best. Don’t have enough time? Use a bowl shaped diffuser that fits on the end of a hand held dryer or even a portable hood dryer from a beauty supply store.
Tip:
The gel formulation is accident proof, meaning if you use too much and it dries crunchy, just wait until it is completely dry, then scrunch to release the “mold or cast” and your beautiful curls!!! We recommend using more rather than not using enough so that you don’t end up with frizz.
Treatment:
You will use the MopTop Deep conditioner for damaged or dry hair. Apply a generous amount to damp or dry hair. If your hair is long, use a clip to hold up hair after treatment is applied. Then cover your hair with a shower type cap and sit under a hood type dryer if available. A hand held dryer can work, too. Heat your hair for about 20 minutes and allow your hair to cool naturally before rinsing.
