Cleanse:
As a Type 5, you will most likely shampoo less frequently than someone with a less textured hair type. Start out shampooing once a week longer if you can. You can co-wash between shampoos.
If you find that your oil production is too high, then shampoo more frequently. On days that you are not using the lather shampoo, use the conditioner to co-wash. Focus lathering shampoo on your scalp, not as much your hair.
Condition:
Your hair is like a sponge, squeeze extra water out then add product to ensure the moisture is absorbed. Focus the conditioner on the ends towards the roots, but do not leave any conditioner on your scalp. Your hair does not need as much moisture closer to the scalp. Your moisture needs are at the ends of the hair towards mid hair shaft, the oldest hair on your head. Do not rinse all of the conditioner out of hair you want your hair to feel like “seaweed”. If you can feel the slimy seaweed feel and your hand is white with conditioner, rinse a little more. Your hand should be clear of conditioner, and feel slimy like seaweed. If you rinse too much conditioner out of your hair, you may add a tiny bit to the ends / mid-shaft, after squeezing out excess water.
Style:
You will use the leave-in conditioner as your styling product. Apply to “damp” hair…a little bit goes a long way. We encourage using the MopTop 4 section method, Do not touch your hair your hair until it is completely dry! Air drying is best. Don’t have enough time? Use a bowl shaped diffuser that fits on the end of a hand held dryer or even a portable hood dryer from a beauty supply store.
